Atlanta radio icon and former ‘Rap City’ host Big Tigger was arrested on Saturday, 20 June 2026, on aggravated battery and child cruelty charges after an alleged altercation with his wife.
The media personality, whose real name is Darian Morgan, was booked into the Fulton County Jail in Georgia and later released after posting bonds totalling $10,000, as reported by TMZ.
He faces one count of aggravated battery and one count of cruelty to children in the third degree.
Big Tigger is one of Atlanta’s most recognisable media voices, known to a generation of hip-hop fans from his run hosting the show Rap City and a long career on local radio.
The arrest of such a familiar figure sent the story racing across timelines within hours.
What led to the Big Tigger arrest
According to the arrest warrant, Morgan and his wife, Alicia Brown, were arguing on Friday, 9 May 2026, over text messages between Morgan and a female colleague.
Brown told police she began recording, and during the confrontation she suffered a small bruise to her lower lip.
The warrant states that Brown then stumbled and landed headfirst into a door, leaving a deep laceration over her left eye that required several stitches and remained visibly disfiguring a month later.
Their 13-year-old son was at home and heard the argument, which underpins the cruelty to children charge.
How Big Tigger responded to the charges
Morgan, who hosted the hip-hop show Rap City for years, pushed back firmly.
“I appreciate the support and concern that so many people have shown. I want to say categorically that these allegations and accusations that have been circulating are false,” he said in a statement.
He also addressed the colleague at the centre of the row, saying, “it’s important to clarify that Francesca and I have never been anything more than friends and respected colleagues. I’d like to apologize to her for the impact of these last few days.”
He later shared a cryptic post reading, “Life is a cruel teacher.”
Brown has since distanced herself from the abuse narrative. Speaking through media personality Loren LoRosa, she said, “I want to be clear: I have never called my husband an abuser.”
Her words added an unexpected twist to a story that had spread quickly across social media.
What happens next for Big Tigger
Morgan is out on bond while the charges move through the Fulton County court system, where prosecutors will decide whether to take the matter to a formal indictment.
For now he remains charged, not convicted, and the next development will come when the case returns to court for its first hearing.
