‘Black Flag Resynced’ release date confirmed for July 9

The 'Black Flag Resynced' release date is Thursday 9 July 2026 on PS5, Xbox and PC, with a ground-up remake and new Blackbeard content.

Black Flag Resynced’ has a firm release date, with Ubisoft confirming its ground-up remake of ‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’ arrives on Thursday, 9 July 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC.

The remake rebuilds the 2013 pirate adventure from the ground up on the latest version of the Anvil engine, according to Ubisoft.

Development is led by Ubisoft Singapore, with several people who worked on the original game returning to bring it to current hardware.

A remake is not the same as a remaster. Rather than polishing the old files, the studio has rebuilt the game on new technology, which lets it push visuals and add content the 2013 hardware could never have handled while keeping the shape of the story intact.

When is the ‘Black Flag Resynced’ release date

The release date is Thursday, 9 July 2026, and the game launches on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC on the same day. On PC it will be sold through the Ubisoft Store, Steam and the Epic Games Store, so players are not locked to a single storefront.

There is no multiplayer this time. The team has aimed the whole project at a single-player experience, and once the game is downloaded the full main campaign can be played offline.

That is a clear signal the focus sits on the story rather than any live-service add-ons.

What is new in ‘Black Flag Resynced’

Beyond sharper visuals, the remake adds fresh content on top of the original story. New storylines dig into fan-favourite characters, including the pirates Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet, giving returning players a reason to sail the Caribbean again rather than simply replay what they already know.

Smaller additions round out the package, with new sea shanties, pets and a photo mode joining the mix.

On the technical side the game runs on ray tracing and micropolygon rendering, and consoles get 60 frames-per-second options for players who want smoother action over raw detail.

Black Flag is widely rated among the strongest entries in the series, prized for its open seas, ship combat and swagger. Picking it for a full remake is a safe bet for Ubisoft, which has leaned on the Assassin’s Creed name heavily while newer projects find their feet.

With the date set, attention turns to whether the remake wins over players who still hold the 2013 release dear.

If the reviews land well when it arrives on Thursday, 9 July 2026, expect Ubisoft to weigh similar treatment for other favourites in the back catalogue.
