Golden Globes 2026: ‘One Battle After Another’ and ‘Adolescence’ lead big night of first-time winners

The Golden Globes were held on Sunday, with 'One Battle After Another' and 'Adolescence' emerging as the top winners as the ceremony delivered a mix of breakout victories, major upsets and headline moments that set the tone for the rest of awards season.

The Golden Globes returned on Sunday night for a ceremony that spread recognition across film and television while still producing clear front-runners.

On the film side, One Battle After Another led the conversation with multiple major wins, while Hamnet secured the top drama prize. 

On television, Adolescence dominated the limited series categories, while The Pitt and The Studio took the top series awards.  

Standout moments and first-time wins

A major theme of the night was breakthrough recognition. Rose Byrne won her first Golden Globe, taking best actress in a musical or comedy film for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You

The ceremony also introduced a new podcast category, with Good Hang with Amy Poehler winning the inaugural award.  

One Battle After Another won best motion picture (musical or comedy), with Paul Thomas Anderson collecting directing and screenplay honours, while Teyana Taylor won supporting actress. 

Adolescence landed the top limited series prize and multiple acting awards.
