Chris Evans said fatherhood had reordered his priorities, telling a panel audience at the 2026 Boston FanExpo that having a daughter changed how he chose his work.
The 45-year-old Avengers: Doomsday actor spoke about the change while on stage at the convention, as reported by Just Jared.
He and wife Alba Baptista welcomed their daughter, Alma Grace Baptista Evans, in October 2025, their first child.
Evans has spent two decades in franchise films, most of it as Captain America, and the FanExpo circuit is familiar ground for him. This time the questions landed somewhere other than the shield, and he answered them as a new dad rather than a returning Avenger.

“I have a daughter now.”
The line was simple, but it framed everything that followed. He explained what fatherhood meant in practice for a man whose job routinely involves months on location, long days in a costume and stretches of time away from home. Evans put the new maths plainly:
“You need a really good reason to walk into work. So priorities have shifted.”
Boston is home turf for Evans, who was raised just outside the city and has never been quiet about it, so the fatherhood questions came from a crowd that has tracked him since he first put on the Captain America suit in 2011.

Baptista, 29, a Portuguese actor, and Evans made their first public appearance as parents at the 2026 Oscars in March, five months after the birth. It was a rare joint red carpet for a couple who have spent most of their relationship dodging cameras rather than posing for them.

Evans was one of the busiest actors of the Marvel era, stacking blockbusters, thrillers and voice work across a decade.
The priorities line suggested a slower rate of output, with the projects that do get a yes having to earn it against time at home.
