Spurs stun Knicks at MSG to get back in NBA Finals 2026

Wembanyama's 32 points powered the Spurs to a 115-111 win over the Knicks in NBA Finals Game 3 at MSG.

Victor Wembanyama delivered 32 points, eight rebounds and six assists on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the New York Knicks 115-111 at Madison Square Garden, pulling the NBA Finals series back to 2-1.

The Knicks walked into Game 3 on a 13-game postseason winning streak. They walked out of it with that streak snapped and a very much alive Spurs team on their hands.

As reported by ESPN, Wembanyama was the difference-maker, dragging San Antonio back into a series that had looked completely one-sided heading into the weekend.

How Wembanyama took Game 3 from the Knicks

Nobody in that building had an answer for Wembanyama, and that is not a slight on New York. It is just the reality of what this 22-year-old can do when he is on.

He scored 14 of San Antonio’s first 26 points, working in the post, stepping to the three-point line, and finishing at the rim on drives that left defenders confused.

In the fourth quarter, with the Knicks pressing to close the game out, Wembanyama hit back-to-back mid-range jumpers to restore the Spurs’ lead. He finished with two steals and three blocks on top of his scoring line.

It was a complete performance at the worst possible venue to give a complete performance.

Stephon Castle contributed 23 points and five assists. Castle is 21. Wembanyama is 22. These two have turned a rebuilding Spurs team into genuine NBA Finals contenders, and on Monday night at the Garden, nobody looked more comfortable under pressure.

What went wrong for the Knicks in Game 3

Jalen Brunson finished with 21 points but shot 8-for-22 from the field as Devin Vassell disrupted his mid-range rhythm all game.

Brunson has been the best player in the building for most of this postseason. Last night he was not. Mikal Bridges was quiet in the second half, finishing with just 9 points.

New York scored 26 points in the third quarter. That is the kind of number that hands the opposition everything they need, and San Antonio took full advantage.

The Knicks’ offence looked stagnant for stretches, and the home crowd, which had been electric, went noticeably quiet as the fourth quarter unfolded.

The Knicks still lead 2-1 and still hold home court for Game 4 on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden. But the series has a completely different feel now.

If Wembanyama shows up like this a second time in New York, this fanbase’s 53-year wait for a championship is going to get significantly more nerve-wracking.
