The Selena Gomez Wondermind lawsuit surfaced on Thursday, 13 August 2026, with two investor companies accusing the singer and her mother, Mandy Teefey, of misleading them about the mental health brand.
Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC filed the suit, which also names Wondermind Global itself and former business partner Daniella Pierson, as reported by TMZ.
The pair of companies say they put more than $1 million into the wellness venture and want it back.
Here is where it gets spicy. The investors claim they only wrote those cheques because Gomez was fronting the brand on television and in interviews, and because they were told she would be “intimately involved” behind the scenes.
What the Selena Gomez Wondermind lawsuit actually claims
The alleged misrepresentations stretched well beyond Gomez herself. The investors say they were assured Pierson had the business acumen and track record she advertised, and that Teefey was fit to sit in company leadership.
Once the money cleared, they allege, Gomez stepped back.
The suit says the investors had no idea how bad things were until a magazine exposé published in September 2025 pulled back the curtain. It described a company in “a state of utter disarray”, with vendors and staff allegedly left waiting on late payments.
That article, per the lawsuit, detailed alleged substance abuse issues and mismanagement on Teefey’s part, plus what it called Gomez’s “abject dereliction of her duties” as she distanced herself from the business amid personal struggles with her mother.
How Mandy Teefey responded to the Wondermind claims
Teefey has pushed back hard on the claims about her substance use and her handling of the company, aiming her frustration squarely at former staff rather than her own conduct.
Teefey’s denial, issued after the allegations first surfaced, left little room for interpretation.
“It’s unfortunate that a few disgruntled employees with an ax to grind can spread lies about me and distort the truth. Even more disappointing that the media is willing to amplify their lies.”
The lawsuit also claims that when Teefey was confronted about the article’s contents, she tried to lay the blame on Pierson, who had already walked away from Wondermind by then.
Pierson is named as a defendant alongside Gomez, Teefey and the company.
Where the Selena Gomez Wondermind lawsuit goes next
Wondermind launched as a mental fitness platform built around Gomez’s own openness about her mental health, which is exactly why the investors say her name carried so much weight in the pitch.
That personal branding now sits at the centre of the legal fight.
The two companies are suing for securities fraud and breach of contract, and they want unspecified damages plus every cent of their investment returned.
Whether Gomez and Teefey file a response or push for dismissal will be the next thing worth watching in this case.
