Residents of Protea Glen, Gauteng, are advised to take note of an upcoming power outage that has been scheduled for essential maintenance on the electricity distribution network this week.

In a statement released on Monday, the national electricity supplier outlined the details of the interruption and provided key information to ensure the safety and convenience of its customers.

Scheduled Maintenance and Power Outage
According to Eskom, this week’s interruption is a necessary step to conduct vital maintenance on the distribution power lines in the area.
“In the interest of safety, customers are advised to treat all electrical appliances as live at all times during the power supply outage,” Eskom noted.
Areas Affected by Power Outage
The power outage will specifically impact customers in Protea Glen Extensions 22, 24, 28, and 44, on Friday, 25 August 2023.
The interruption will begin at 09:00 and is expected to last until 15:00 on the same day.
During this period, electricity supply to the specified areas will be temporarily suspended to facilitate the maintenance work.
In the interest of safety, Eskom advises all customers to treat electrical appliances as live throughout the duration of the power supply outage.
Even when the power is cut off, there is still a risk of electrical shock if appliances are not handled with caution. By treating all devices as live, residents can ensure their own safety and that of others in their households.
“Eskom would like to thank you for your cooperation, and apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused by this maintenance,” Eskom concluded.
