Cape Town police are slowly making headway in piecing together the mystery behind the disappearance of Nick Frischke, and in the latest update, three suspects were linked to the German tourist’s missing case.
Three suspects linked to Nick Frischke disappearance
Wednesday, 1 March 2023 will mark two weeks since Frischke was last seen alive.
The last sighting of the 22-year-old German tourist was made by surveillance cameras at the foot of a popular hiking trail in Hangberg, Hout Bay, a day after he was spotted shopping at the V&A Waterfront on Valentine’s Day.
The first crucial development in the investigation came when the tourist’s visa and credit card were found in a cache of stolen items recovered from a search and seizure operation at a bungalow in Hangberg.
Then, Nick Frischke’s missing case took a new turn when on Monday, 27 February 2023, three suspects appeared in court in connection with the German tourist’s disappearance.
In a statement posted on social media, the Hout Bay community policing forum revealed that the unnamed suspects “admitted to robbing Mr Frischke.”
“The victim’s backpack and cellphone were recovered as well as a knife,” the policing forum revealed.
Moreover, two more suspects were due to appear in court on Tuesday, 28 February 2023 in connection with the 22-year-old’s disappearance.
However, efforts to track down Frischke have been hampered by the suspects’ refusal to cooperate.
“Despite intensive questioning and following up of information from the suspects there is still no sign of the missing hiker,” police added.
Two weeks into the missing case, search efforts have yet to yield any solid link to the German tourist.
“Nick Frischke has not been found yet and there has been a massive effort from authorities and volunteer services to find him. The search is ongoing and despite the many rumors doing the rounds, he has not been found,” Hout Bay’s police CPF confirmed.
