Milk + Cookies Festival 2027 will return to South Africa for a third year, with shows in Cape Town on Friday, 29 January and Johannesburg on Sunday, 31 January.
According to a media release issued by the organisers on 27 September, the festival is coming off two South African editions that drew more than 50,000 people between them.
Milk + Cookies started in Atlanta and describes itself as a global cultural platform that mixes music, food, fashion, art and design.
When is Milk + Cookies Festival 2027?
The Cape Town show is set for Friday, 29 January 2027 and the Johannesburg show for Sunday, 31 January.
The 2026 editions were both held on Saturdays, a week apart, in Cape Town on 3 January and Johannesburg on 10 January. This time the two shows fall just two days apart.
Where will the festival be held?
The release does not name venues for either city, and the festival’s website lists no venue, ticket price or on-sale date as of 29 September.
People can sign up on the site for ticket releases and news for Cape Town, Johannesburg or both cities.
The Cape Town leg changed venues between its first two editions. According to Time Out Cape Town, the 2025 debut sold out at Ostrich Farm before the 2026 show moved to Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse.
In Johannesburg, the 2026 edition was held at the Nasrec Expo Centre, according to the event’s Howler listing.
What was the 2026 edition like?
Swisher Post attended the 2026 Cape Town show at Kenilworth Racecourse on 3 January. Entry, food stalls and Howler’s cashless payments largely held up, and the main stage drew most of the crowd.
Two side zones felt under-occupied and public set times were hard to find for fans planning their day, as noted in our review of the Cape Town show. The 2027 release does not say whether either will change.
According to the organisers, the 2026 edition headlined by Gunna drew more than 30,000 people across both cities and supported more than 3,500 jobs, up from the 20,000 who attended Kaytranada’s 2025 debut.

Who is headlining Milk + Cookies Festival 2027?
The headliner has not been named. The organisers said South African artists will be announced first, followed by the headliner, and that the full Music Week programme, which ran across two weeks in 2026, will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
The line-ups have differed sharply from year to year. Kaytranada, a Haitian-Canadian producer, headlined in 2025 and the Atlanta rapper Gunna in 2026, and the release describes that shift as deliberate rather than a change of direction.
