‘DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations’ expansion out today

'DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations' launches 7 July 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox, adding a 10-hour campaign, the Chain Spear and a free Ripatorium update.

DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations’, the first major expansion for id Software’s medieval shooter, launches on Tuesday, 7 July 2026 at 16:00 UTC (18:00 SAST) across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The downloadable add-on packs 10 to 12 hours of new demon slaying, including a full story campaign, fresh arenas and extra content for the Ripatorium challenge mode, as reported by Bethesda.

It is the biggest content drop since the base game landed earlier in 2026.

What ‘DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations’ adds

Revelations introduces new levels built around deeper puzzles, along with new demons and fresh mysteries to unravel.

The headline toy is the Chain Spear, a brutal new melee weapon that adds another dimension to the game’s up-close, aggressive combat loop that longtime slayers will slot in fast.

Finish the campaign and Revelations hands you three extra maps, more demons and a set of fully upgraded weapons to take into the Ripatorium. That is the customisable arena mode where players build their own combat challenges, so the endgame loop gets a serious top-up for anyone chasing high scores.

Early previews suggested Revelations runs longer than a typical shooter expansion, with that 10-to-12-hour estimate rivalling some standalone campaigns.

For a genre where DLC often means a couple of extra levels, that scope is what has the DOOM community paying close attention to this drop.

Alongside the paid expansion, id Software is pushing the free Ripatorium 3.0 update to every DOOM: The Dark Ages player.

It brings deeper customisation, improved pass code generation and personal preset options, so even players who skip Revelations get a meatier version of the arena mode at no cost.

How to get ‘DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations’

Base-game owners can buy the standalone Revelations add-on for USD $19.99 from Tuesday, 7 July 2026, or grab the Premium Edition for $34.99, which is on sale now.

Anyone who already owns the Premium Edition or the Collectors Bundle gets Revelations at no extra charge from launch.

DOOM: The Dark Ages arrived earlier in 2026 as a prequel to the modern reboot, trading the sci-fi speed of DOOM Eternal for a slower, heavier medieval brawl built around the Shield Saw.

It drew a strong reception for leaning into raw, grounded melee combat over the series’ trademark aerial acrobatics.

With the global unlock set for 16:00 UTC (18:00 SAST), South African slayers can expect Revelations to go live on their platforms early on Tuesday evening. id Software has framed this as the first of its post-launch content for The Dark Ages, so more expansions and free updates are likely to follow through 2026.
