Cristiano Ronaldo married Georgina Rodriguez in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, with only family and their five children present.
The couple confirmed it themselves, posting a joint Instagram shot of their hands pressed together with matching wedding bands on show, as reported by Sportingpedia.

Only family made the guest list, including the couple’s five children, at a ceremony held in the seaside resort town about 30km west of Lisbon where the pair own a villa.
The date was no accident, landing a year to the day after Rodriguez posted their engagement announcement on Monday, 11 August 2025.
The Brunswick Group, which handles Ronaldo’s public relations, gave away almost nothing about the day itself. Its entire description of the ceremony ran to three words, which is roughly the level of access the public has had to this relationship for the better part of a decade.

The Funchal cathedral crowd that got it wrong
Portuguese media had spent days guessing at the venue, with Sintra and Ronaldo’s hometown of Funchal, in Madeira, both floated as the likely choice.
Hundreds of people turned up outside Funchal’s cathedral expecting to catch the ceremony, and officials had to confirm that no wedding was booked there.
The story started in 2016 in Madrid, where Rodriguez was working at a Gucci store when Ronaldo walked in. Rodriguez called that first meeting “love at first sight” in a 2025 interview, describing “a sense of peace and an inexplicable energy” from the moment she saw him.
She has also said it felt as if the two “had known each other forever”, a line that reads differently now that there are five children, a villa on the Portuguese coast and a set of matching rings involved.
What the Ronaldo and Rodriguez marriage changes
Ronaldo, 41, is at Saudi club Al Nassr and featured for Portugal at this past summer’s World Cup, where the team’s run ended in the last 16. Five Ballon d’Or awards sit behind him, along with spells at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Rodriguez, 32, has built her own audience through the Netflix series I Am Georgina, which follows the family’s fashion, travel and home life. Between them the couple command a combined social media following of more than 750 million, alongside a business portfolio that takes in fashion labels and a hotel chain.
Nothing about the way the pair manage their public life points to a change of pace now that they are married, and the ring picture did the work of any formal announcement.
