Dylan Sprouse and his wife, model Barbara Palvin, confirmed they are expecting their first child together on Thursday, with Palvin debuting her baby bump on the red carpet at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
The announcement caught fans off guard in the best way possible. Palvin appeared at Cannes in a flowing pale blue gown that made no effort to conceal the bump, and the couple followed up with a joint Instagram post confirming the pregnancy.
The carousel included photos from their Cannes looks as well as an ultrasound image, where the baby’s hands appear to be raised in what fans have described as a heavy metal horns gesture.
The couple has not disclosed a due date or the baby’s sex.
A Cannes moment nobody saw coming
Sprouse and Palvin married on 15 July 2023 in a ceremony held in Hungary, Palvin’s home country, after several years together.
The pregnancy announcement is their first major family news since the wedding.

Sprouse, who rose to prominence as a child actor in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody before transitioning to adult roles, and Palvin, who has modelled for Victoria’s Secret and appeared on the covers of international editions of Vogue, have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight since getting married.
The Cannes red carpet reveal follows a format that has become something of a celebrity tradition, with high-profile couples using major press moments to share personal news.
For Palvin, Cannes is a familiar setting; she has attended the festival in previous years as a brand ambassador. The choice to make the announcement there, in front of cameras and with a bump already visible, suggests the couple had been keeping the news private for some time before Thursday.
What’s next for the couple
No formal due date has been given, and the couple has not commented publicly beyond the Instagram post. Given the visible size of the bump in Thursday’s photos, the baby is expected sometime in the latter half of 2026.
Sprouse’s twin brother Cole Sprouse, also a former child actor who found renewed fame in Riverdale, has not yet publicly responded to the announcement, though the post was widely shared across entertainment coverage within hours of going live.
The pregnancy places Dylan Sprouse and Barbara Palvin among the highest-profile celebrity baby announcements of 2026, a year that has already seen several major celebrity family news stories break from the Cannes red carpet.
The 2026 festival, which runs through the end of May, is shaping up to be one of its more eventful editions off the screen as well as on it.
