The Jay-Z Super Bowl halftime show is reportedly locked in, with Puck saying the rapper picked himself to headline Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium in California on Sunday, 14 February 2027.
According to Puck, which cited multiple sources, Jay-Z chose himself for the slot while Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus were reportedly considered too. Neither the NFL nor Roc Nation, the entertainment company he founded, has announced a headliner, and Puck says Jay-Z could reveal the booking at his upcoming concerts at SoFi Stadium.
What is the Jay-Z Super Bowl halftime show report?
The report follows months of speculation about who would take over after Bad Bunny headlined Super Bowl LX in February 2026.
Jay-Z has shaped the show from behind the scenes since Roc Nation partnered with the NFL in 2019, helping to select and produce performers including Rihanna, Usher and Kendrick Lamar, but he has never headlined it himself.
Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, which last hosted the game in 2022 when the Los Angeles Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20.
Jay-Z has not released a solo studio album since 4:44 in 2017, and his recent live work has centred on stadium shows, including three nights at Yankee Stadium in July.
Why the Jay-Z Super Bowl halftime show matters
The halftime stage is one of the biggest in television, and performers traditionally receive no major appearance fee, with the NFL covering production costs. Jay-Z would be stepping from adviser to performer, a change in role rather than a new arrangement with the league, because Roc Nation already advises on artist selection.
Fans have already started asking whether Beyoncé will join him. She headlined the halftime show in 2013 and returned as a guest during Coldplay’s set in 2016, and she and their daughter Blue Ivy joined Jay-Z on stage at his Reasonable Doubt anniversary show at Yankee Stadium on Friday, 10 July 2026.
Nothing about a halftime appearance has been announced.
Who else was in the running?
Bieber and Cyrus are the other names Puck reportedly linked to the slot, while Harry Styles has also been tipped in recent reports.
Cyrus recently headlined two nights at the Hollywood Bowl, Styles’ tour wraps on Sunday, 13 December 2026, and Bieber recently headlined Coachella, according to the reports.
Jay-Z plays two JAY-Z 30 shows at SoFi Stadium on Friday, 23 October 2026 and Saturday, 24 October 2026, in the same stadium that will host Super Bowl LXI, and Puck says an announcement could come at his upcoming concerts there.
