Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein addressed dating rumours during a joint appearance on the Today show on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, with Lopez flatly denying a romantic relationship ahead of the Netflix premiere of their film Office Romance on Friday, 5 June.
The two have been promoting the Netflix original rom-com for several weeks, and the onscreen chemistry between Lopez and Goldstein sparked widespread speculation about whether the pair had taken things off-script in real life, as reported by TMZ.
Lopez made clear on Monday that the rumours were a pattern she recognised rather than a story with any basis.
What Jennifer Lopez said about the rumours
“There’s never a time when I’m seen with someone, I’m working with somebody, they don’t put me with that person,” Lopez said during the Today appearance.
She also noted that she had been linked to several different people over the course of 2026, referencing Kevin Costner among those her name had been attached to, as evidence that the speculation follows a familiar formula regardless of who she is working with at any given moment.
One outlet subsequently reported that Lopez and Goldstein had briefly dated after growing close during the production of Office Romance, but that the romance fizzled before filming wrapped and the pair remained on friendly terms.
Lopez’s denial, however, was unambiguous, and there is no corroboration for the conflicting account.
Who Brett Goldstein is
Goldstein is best known internationally for his role as Roy Kent in the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso, a performance that earned him two Emmy Awards.
The British actor also wrote the screenplay for Office Romance, which he penned alongside directing the film with Ol Parker, the filmmaker behind Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.
Playing a character opposite Lopez was a rare turn in front of the camera for Goldstein in a major film production.
In Office Romance, Goldstein plays Daniel Blanchflower, a newly hired lawyer who becomes romantically entangled with Lopez’s character Jackie Cruz, a sharp-edged CEO whose professional life begins to unravel alongside her personal one.
The film carries an R-rating, which places it in distinctly adult territory for a mainstream romantic comedy.
What happens next
Office Romance begins streaming on Netflix on Friday, 5 June 2026. The film’s cast also includes Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale and Bradley Whitford.
Whether the dating rumours help or hinder the film’s opening-week performance is an open question, but the publicity, denied or otherwise, has given the premiere considerable advance attention heading into its Thursday release.
