Ronda Rousey has declared she is “gunning to kill that chick” when she faces Gina Carano at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on Saturday, 16 May 2026, in a fight that will stream live on Netflix.

Speaking to TMZ on Sunday, 26 April, Rousey said she carries “enormous respect” for Carano but made clear her intentions going into the ring are unambiguous.

The fight, promoted by Most Valuable Promotions and billed as MVP MMA 1, marks the return of both women from lengthy retirements.

Rousey last competed in the UFC in December 2016, when she was knocked out by Amanda Nunes. Carano had her last MMA bout in January 2009, a points loss to Cris Cyborg, before her pivot to acting and a subsequent period away from the sport.

Two fighters returning after years away

Rousey enters with a professional MMA record of 12 wins and 2 losses, with nine victories by submission and three by knockout.

Carano carries a record of 7 wins and 1 loss. She is returning after more than 16 years out of active competition, making this one of the longest comeback gaps in high-profile MMA history.

The full card for the event also features lineal heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou against Philipe Lins and a contest between Nate Diaz and Mike Perry. All bouts will stream on Netflix at 21:00 ET on 16 May, which translates to 03:00 SAST on the morning of 17 May.

Most Valuable Promotions is the combat sports company founded by Jake Paul, which has built a significant pay-per-view presence through high-profile matchups since its launch.

Fight week in Los Angeles is open to the public

MVP confirmed the full fight week programme on 24 April. Open workouts are scheduled for Wednesday, 13 May at Venice Beach Basketball Courts in Los Angeles at 21:00 ET.

The official press conference follows on Thursday, 14 May at the Intuit Dome outdoor plaza, with ceremonial weigh-ins on Friday, 15 May at the same venue. All fight week events ahead of fight night are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, as reported by MMA Mania.

Rousey also addressed her MMA future in the same TMZ interview, indicating that her plans after the fight remain dependent on the outcome.

She has previously stated she would consider retiring permanently from the sport if the result did not go her way, as reported by Bloody Elbow.

No formal post-fight commitment has been made by either fighter’s camp at the time of publishing.

The Rousey vs Carano fight on 16 May will be Netflix’s first live MMA main event, continuing the platform’s push into live sports content after its boxing programme and its NFL Christmas Day games.
