The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra leak points to the handset’s biggest display upgrade in years, with fresh specifications surfacing on Tuesday, 15 September 2026 covering the screen, battery, chipset and charging.
The headline change is the panel itself. Samsung Display’s new M16 OLED technology is tipped to make its first appearance in a Galaxy phone, as reported by Forbes, bringing gains in brightness, colour accuracy, power efficiency and panel longevity.

OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode, a screen type where every pixel produces its own light instead of leaning on a backlight behind it. The 6.9-inch AMOLED size is expected to carry over, so this is a generational jump in panel quality rather than a change in how big the phone is.
Panel longevity is the quieter part of that list. OLED screens dim gradually over years of use, and a generational improvement in the emitter materials is what slows that decline, which matters more on a phone people keep for three or four years.
Two newer technologies ride along with it. COE, or colour-on-encapsulation, is the nerdy shorthand for building the colour filter straight onto the panel’s protective layer, and a Privacy Display mode is tipped to narrow the viewing angle so the person in the next seat cannot read along.
Battery and charging in the Galaxy S27 Ultra leak
On power, the leak points to a switch to silicon-carbon battery chemistry with a capacity of up to 5 700mAh. Silicon-carbon anodes hold more charge in the same physical space than conventional cells, which is how a phone gains capacity without gaining thickness.
Qi2 wireless charging is also tipped to arrive at last. The magnet-aligned standard was rumoured for the S26 Ultra and never materialised, so its appearance on the leak sheet again is the kind of detail that only counts once a phone is in hand.
Cameras and silicon in the S27 Ultra leak
The camera system is expected to run to five sensors in total, including a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide, a 50-megapixel 5x telephoto and a second telephoto lens, with a 16-megapixel selfie camera that gets optical image stabilisation.
Under the hood, an upgraded chipset is expected to pair with LPDDR6 memory, the next generation of the RAM standard that phones use as short-term working space. Faster memory matters most when a device is juggling on-device processing, which is where flagship silicon spends more of its time now.
