Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old eldest son of United States congresswoman Lauren Boebert, was arrested in Colorado on Sunday, 9 August 2026 on three charges of sexual exploitation of a child.
The arrest was made on a warrant issued by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, as reported by ABC News.
Boebert, of New Castle, Colorado, also faced two charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Online court records listed the three exploitation counts as one each for enticing or inducing, intent, and videos.
No conviction was recorded, and the charges remained allegations that must still be tested in a Colorado court.
The records placed the start of the alleged conduct on 1 January 2024, and linked the case to a video Boebert, then 18, is accused of recording that year with a 17-year-old. The minor’s identity was not disclosed.
Precision matters in this case, because a charge and a conviction are not the same thing.
A charge sets out what prosecutors allege and allows the case to proceed; a conviction follows only if a court finds the allegation proved beyond reasonable doubt, or if the accused pleads guilty.

Lauren Boebert, a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, addressed the arrest in a statement released on Monday, 10 August 2026.
She did not comment on the substance of the allegations or on the court process facing her son.
Lauren Boebert said in the statement:
“I love my son. We take allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.”
Sexual exploitation of a child is a felony under Colorado law. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor is a separate offence covering an adult accused of encouraging a person under 18 into unlawful conduct, and it carries a lower penalty range.
The matter now moves to the Garfield County court system, where prosecutors must decide whether to proceed with all five counts.
Boebert remains free on bond, and the case will follow the standard sequence of filing, advisement and preliminary hearing before any trial date is set.
