FNB Art Joburg 2026 tickets are on sale for the fair’s 19th edition, taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre from Friday, 4 September to Sunday, 6 September 2026.
The fair lands in the same year Johannesburg celebrates its 140th birthday, a milestone organisers are leaning into for this edition.
According to fair organisers, the 19th edition brings together galleries from across the continent, alongside installations, talks and a print and publishing section, all under one Sandton roof.

Tickets are selling through Tixsa at R180 for a day pass and R380 for a weekend pass, while a VIP RSVP option for Friday, 4 September comes in at R1,500. Entry covers the full fair floor, from gallery booths and installations to the talks programme.
For fair director Mandla Sibeko, the city itself is the main event.
“Johannesburg has always been a place where ambition meets possibility; where artists, entrepreneurs, thinkers and communities arrive carrying different histories and leave having built something entirely new,” he says.
“It is a city propelled by movement, sustained by inquiry and shaped by people willing to imagine beyond what already exists. That restless energy has made Johannesburg one of the continent’s great cultural engines, and it remains the reason FNB Art Joburg continues to call this city home,” he added.
What to expect at FNB Art Joburg 2026
The fair floor is split into specialised sections. INK celebrates print culture, from critical writing and art publications to artist books and limited-edition prints, while GIF focuses on photography as one of South Africa’s most significant artistic mediums, tracing both its histories and its present.
“We are excited to welcome audiences back this September when our 19th edition will realise Johannesburg’s enduring role as a meeting place for cultural breakthroughs,” says Sibeko.
“Through inclusivity, inquiry and the incubation of new ideas, FNB Art Joburg continues to champion the innovation that is shaping the continent’s role in the future of the global ecosystem.”
Open City returns across Johannesburg
Running alongside the fair, the Open City programme returns from Thursday, 20 August to Monday, 14 September 2026 in partnership with Brand South Africa.
The initiative turns Johannesburg into an extended exhibition, connecting art, music, fashion, design, food and performances across the city as a bridge into the main fair.
The full gallery list and talks programme have not been announced yet, making that the next milestone before doors open on Friday, 4 September.
Early birds can already lock in weekend passes on Tixsa, with the citywide Open City programme kicking things off from 20 August.
