AC/DC’s Toronto concert was cancelled on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, after a violent storm tore through Rogers Stadium, wiping out the 50 000-capacity venue’s final show of the season.
Rogers Stadium broke the news on Instagram, confirming the Wednesday, 16 September 2026 gig would not go ahead, as reported by Billboard Canada. The show was booked as the venue’s 20th and last of the 2026 season.
Why the AC/DC Toronto concert was cancelled
A 100-year storm hammered Toronto on Wednesday, 2 September 2026 and left the outdoor venue badly damaged, with several seating sections on the north side collapsing. The City of Toronto ordered immediate repairs, handing Live Nation Canada a seven-page order of conditions.
Live Nation Canada filed its damage report on Tuesday, 8 September 2026 and was due to follow up on Friday, 11 September, but engineers had already ruled the storm-hit sections had to come down and be rebuilt rather than patched.
Wayne Zronik, the company’s president of business operations, said:
“Cancelling a concert is never a decision we want to make, and we know how disappointing this will be for all of us who have been looking forward to seeing AC/DC close out our summer season.”
He was clear that the call came down to structural reality rather than scheduling, and that stripping out and rebuilding a stadium section was never going to be a quick fix with the date only days away.
Zronik added:
“Safety has to come first. The right decision is to take the time to remove and rebuild the affected parts of the stadium to ensure it is ready to welcome fans next summer.”
Refunds after the AC/DC Toronto concert cancellation
Ticket holders do not need to chase anything, because every ticket bought will be refunded automatically and in full through Ticketmaster. The venue used Instagram to explain that shifting the gig to another Toronto site had been explored and ruled out.
Rogers Stadium said:
“The safety of fans, artists, crew and venue staff remains our highest priority. It was made to find potential solutions for the show to move forward in Toronto, but unfortunately, we were unable to find an alternative venue that could accommodate everyone.”
Where AC/DC go next after Toronto
The rest of the PWR/UP tour stayed on track, with AC/DC still set for Montreal on Saturday, 12 September 2026 before closing their Canadian run at Winnipeg’s Princess Auto Stadium on Sunday, 20 September 2026.
Zronik framed the loss against a season the venue counted as a win. He said:
“Our focus is on completing this work carefully, safely and responsibly, so Rogers Stadium is ready to welcome fans back with confidence next season. We’ve had an incredible summer at Rogers Stadium, and while this isn’t how we wanted the season to end, safety for fans, artists and employees will always come before any individual event.”
Demolition and rebuilding of the north-side sections will carry through the off-season, with Rogers Stadium aiming to reopen for the 2027 summer calendar.
