Bella Ramsey has admitted feeling naive going into filming for series two of ‘The Celebrity Traitors’, ahead of the show’s return later in 2026.
Ramsey, 22, who uses they/them pronouns and is known for The Last of Us and Game of Thrones, signed up because they love the party game Mafia, which the Traitors format is loosely based on, as reported by The Guardian.
Known for playing Ellie in The Last of Us and Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones, Ramsey built a reputation for intensity and control on screen rather than for reality television, spending most of a decade working from a script.
Signing up for The Celebrity Traitors marked a sharp turn into a format with no script at all, and no character to hide behind.
Why Bella Ramsey felt naive about ‘Celebrity Traitors’
The real experience turned out to be far more complicated than the party game version Ramsey had imagined going in, and years spent acting on screen did not prepare them for how it actually felt to play.
Bella Ramsey said:
“I should know, after doing this [acting] for so many years, that what you see on screen isn’t actually what it is.”
That gap between expectation and reality is part of why Ramsey used the word naive to describe their own mindset going into filming.
Signing up for a format built on trust and deception is one thing, living inside it for weeks with cameras running is another.
The Traitors format asks a group of contestants to work out who among them is secretly working against the rest, with the traitors picking off faithful players one by one while everyone tries to catch them out.
It is a format built on suspicion, which is exactly what caught Ramsey’s interest in the first place.

Ramsey will not be alone in adjusting to the format. Richard E Grant, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart and James Blunt are among the other names confirmed for the new series, joining a cast built from actors, comedians and musicians rather than reality show regulars.
None of the new cast members have detailed their own approach yet, and Ramsey’s comments about naivety are the clearest hint so far of what newcomers to the format should expect once filming actually begins.

Asked about watching it back, Bella Ramsey joked they might try to be out of the country when it airs, half expecting the renewed spotlight to be as unsettling as filming was.
