Dave Bautista lost everything after WWE, the actor revealed in an interview published on Thursday, 13 August 2026, saying his house was foreclosed on before a wrestling legend’s advice reset his finances.
The former WWE champion, known to Marvel fans as Drax and to film buffs for Blade Runner 2049, made the admission during a wide-ranging YouTube interview, as reported by Moneywise.
He described the stretch after he left the ring in blunt terms:
“I came out of wrestling, I literally lost everything. My house got foreclosed on.”

Bautista walked away from full-time wrestling in 2010 after a run that made him one of the company’s biggest draws, and the Hollywood work did not arrive overnight.
The wrestling money stopped, the bills did not, and the bank came for his house.
The turnaround, he said, came from a piece of advice handed to him by Mark Calaway, the wrestler the world knows as The Undertaker.
Calaway told him to live below his means no matter how much was coming in, and Bautista said the lesson landed only after the damage was done:
“[It was] the best advice that I ever got. I learned the hard way.”

Bautista said the rule has stuck. He allows himself one luxury purchase “once in a year”, something he actually wants, and then closes the wallet again.
The line he will not cross is the supercar bracket, and he used one very specific example to explain where his limit sits:
“Like I don’t need a Bugatti. I’d love to have a Bugatti, but I’m not paying $3 to $5 million for a car.”
That restraint is not about affordability. Bautista has spent the past decade in blockbusters, from his Marvel run as Drax to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films, and he made clear the choice is deliberate rather than forced on him by a thin bank balance:
“I know I can live more lavishly, more luxuriously. That money in the bank means more to me than something I don’t really need.”
What is next for Dave Bautista after Dune
Away from the money talk, separate and lower-confidence reporting has Bautista said to be in talks to join a Star Wars project, following his Dune appearances and his MCU stint as Drax.
Nothing has been confirmed, and it sits in the rumour column until someone signs something.
The same reporting revisited the long-running fan campaign to cast him as Kratos in a God of War screen adaptation, a part Bautista has previously said he was turned down for.
That casting has never been confirmed either, and the actor has spoken about the rejection himself in the past.
The Star Wars question now sits with Lucasfilm, and Bautista has plenty on the go either way. What is settled is the money habit, built on advice from a man best known for burying people in a wrestling ring, and Bautista has no plans to unlearn it.
