Jorja Smith and Wizkid have joined forces on a brand new single called ‘Alive’, released on Thursday, 2 July 2026, and it doubles as the lead track from Smith’s incoming third album.
The song lands via FAMM alongside the announcement of What Are The Odds, Smith’s third studio album, due on Friday, 21 August 2026 with twelve tracks.
“I trusted my instincts with this one, and I think you can hear that throughout the record,” she told Billboard.
It is the kind of pairing that looks obvious on paper and somehow still surprises. Smith has spent years carving out a lane of moody, jazz tinged soul, so hearing her glide over a bright beat with Wizkid trading warmth on the hook feels like a real step into new territory.
What Jorja Smith and Wizkid bring on ‘Alive’
Alive sits in that warm pocket where Smith’s soulful British R&B meets Wizkid’s Afrobeats glow, a slinky, summery jam built for late night dancefloors. Produced by P2J, the track was written and recorded by the trio together in London, and that ease comes through in every bar of it.
“Making this with P2J and Wizkid felt really easy,” Smith said.
“We wrote and recorded it together in London. I think we captured that feeling when you’re at the beginning of something with someone and everything feels exciting.”
Inside the ‘What Are The Odds’ album
The album has been a slow burn in the making, and Smith says that was the whole point.
“This album came together really naturally,” she explained.
“There was never a big plan; it was just me making music that felt right in the moment.”
She also shared a second cut, What’s Done is Done.
The Wizkid link up is a big deal on its own. The Nigerian superstar is one of the defining voices of the global Afrobeats wave, and his pull stretches right across Africa and far beyond, handing Alive a reach well past Smith’s usual lane.
What happens next for Jorja Smith
What Are The Odds will be Smith’s third studio album, following the run that made her one of Britain’s most quietly influential young artists.
The new record promises the same emotional openness, just looser and more playful, if Alive is anything to go by.
With Alive and What’s Done is Done already out, the countdown to the full twelve track album is on ahead of Friday, 21 August 2026.
Expect more singles to trickle out before then, and plenty of talk about whether Wizkid is the only big name on the guest list.
