The Apple iPhone 18 Pro launch date is set for Wednesday, 9 September 2026, when a special event titled “Surprise and shine” begins at 10:00 Pacific time (19:00 SAST).
It will be the first keynote fronted by John Ternus, who took over from Tim Cook as chief executive on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, with Cook now executive chairman.

Anyone outside the invite list can follow along on YouTube, on Apple’s own Apple Events page, or through the Apple TV app. The stream starts at 10:00 Pacific (19:00 SAST) and will most likely be a prerecorded video rather than a live stage show.
Only the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to appear.
Apple has shifted to a split-launch strategy, holding the entry-level iPhone 18 and iPhone 18 Plus back for a separate release early in 2027, so the September slot belongs to the premium tier alone.
What the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max may bring
Rumours point to an A20 Pro chip built on a 2-nanometre process. Nanometre is the shorthand for how tightly the transistors are packed, and smaller usually means faster and more efficient.
Packaging changes should keep it running cooler for longer, and Apple’s new C2 modem, the part that talks to mobile networks, is expected too.
The Pro Max may be the only model with a variable-aperture rear camera. Aperture is the size of the opening that lets light into the lens, and varying it gives a more natural bokeh, the soft background blur Apple currently fakes in software.
A larger camera bump, a new “dark cherry” colour and under-display Face ID are also rumoured. Prices are tipped to climb, possibly by around $300 over the iPhone 17 Pro, blamed on a broader memory crisis that has pushed component costs up across the industry.
Beyond the iPhone 18 Pro, a foldable and a home hub
The louder story may be Apple’s first foldable, referred to as the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, a book-style design Swisher Post set out when the invites landed on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.
Rumours describe a 7.8-inch internal display, a 5.3-inch outer screen, the same A20 Pro chip and 12GB of memory.
Camera talk points to a pair of 48-megapixel rear lenses with no telephoto, and 18-megapixel front cameras on both screens for video calls.
Pricing chatter sits between $2 000 and $2 500, with a United States launch first and a slower international rollout.
An Apple Watch Series 12 is expected with a modest update, possibly a health sensor in the band and a new band-attachment method, alongside a redesigned Apple Watch Ultra 4.
A rumoured Home Hub with a seven-inch screen may join it, plus refreshes for Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini.
