The Roast of Kevin Hart streamed live on Netflix on Sunday, 10 May 2026, and delivered what nobody saw coming: Katt Williams walking onto that stage and burying a years-long public feud in front of millions, before Dwayne Johnson arrived with lasers and pyrotechnics to cap off one of the most chaotic nights in recent comedy television.
Hosted by Shane Gillis at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, the roast was part of the Netflix Is a Joke Fest 2026. The three-hour event was supposed to be a night of savage punchlines aimed at Hart, but two surprise appearances turned the whole thing into something nobody expected.
The Kevin Hart Netflix roast moment Katt Williams walked out
Williams and Hart have been publicly at odds since 2024, when Williams went viral for calling Hart an “industry plant” and questioning the speed of his rise in Hollywood.
It was the kind of celebrity beef that felt like it would never actually get resolved.
Then Williams walked out onto that stage.
“I’m surprised they invited me; that’s how little star power you have. They had to invite your enemies. I said, ‘I hate him.’ They said, ‘Come anyway,'” Williams opened, before roasting Hart across a set that somehow also defused two years of public tension.
Hart responded by offering what he described as “an olive branch of peace,” telling Williams he wanted to be “a brother” and “a friend, Katt.”
The crowd erupted. By the end of their exchange, two of the biggest names in Black comedy had drawn a line under something that had fuelled headlines for two years.
Dwayne Johnson, Tom Brady, Venus and Serena
If Williams was the emotional centrepiece of the night, Dwayne Johnson was the spectacle. The Rock arrived late in the evening, announced by pyrotechnics and a standing ovation, in an appearance tied to the pair’s upcoming Jumanji 3 collaboration.
Tom Brady, Sheryl Underwood, Lizzo, Pete Davidson, Draymond Green, Regina Hall, and Venus and Serena Williams all took turns at the podium.
Hart’s height, his film back-catalogue, and his absent father were the most-targeted subjects of the night. Sheryl Underwood earned a standing ovation for an unfiltered set that kept topping itself, as reported by Variety.
Hart’s response to the night, given onstage, was that he was going to be “a good sport,” comparing his position to Tom Brady’s roast last year.
The full roast is now streaming on Netflix. With The Rock confirming his appearance alongside the Jumanji 3 project and Hart and Williams publicly reconciled, expect announcements around the sequel to gather pace in the coming weeks.
